Redevelopment Economics

Redevelopment Economics was a co-lead consultant in developing a green job strategy and cluster analysis for the Allegheny River Towns Enterprise Zone (ARTEZ), seven cities and townships along the Allegheny River north of Pittsburgh. 

The project was summarized in this article, to be published in the October edition of Brownfield Renewal.  The final presentation is available on the ARTEZ website, here. 

The ARTEZ team included:

• Sustainable Strategies 2050 - sustainable property re-use specialists,
• Richard Greene -  renewable energy specialist.

Our approach for assessing green job potential generally includes:

•  Shift-share analysis of green tech sectors to reveal area strengths;
• Analysis of competitive areas vis-a-vis site location evaluation criteria;  
• Analysis of the area's "green assets;"
• Assessment of current business base and potential to expand from within;
• Assessment of sites and potnetial matches with green business growth;
• Development of strategy, considering policies, funding sources, and organizational issues
